For Booksellers...

Our Return Policies

"Returns of books" are a perennial point of contention between booksellers and publishers.  While we understand the need for booksellers to survive, certainly it is not at the sacrifice of the publisher.  Nor do we believe that the bookseller should bear the entire burden.  Thus, we offer the following return policy terms to independent booksellers, or individual chain bookstores, should they choose to order directly from us*.

The book order must be prepaid.
The books may not be returned BEFORE 90 days from date of receipt (to give them sufficient time to sell) and may not be returned AFTER 150 days from date of receipt.
No more than 50% of the last ordered quantity of any title may be returned.
Shipping for any returned books is paid by the bookseller (media rate is fine).
Books returned must be in good, resalable condition (not shopworn, not wrinkled, etc.)  That also means UNSIGNED.  If a book is signed or marked in any way, the bookseller keeps it.
Books are returned for credit, not cash refund.  The credit will be issued within thirty days for any books that are returned in good, resalable condition.
Book orders/returns for specific signing engagements may be negotiated individually.

Is this policy perfect?  Of course not.  But we feel it is the best compromise we can make between "We accept all returns from all stores at all times," and the "We don't accept returns at all," stance.

If you are interested in ordering returnable books directly from us, please print and complete this form, and fax it to us at (702) 543-8386, to establish your Returnable Books account.

* Although most of our books are offered for distribution through national distribution and wholesaler chains (Ingram, Baker & Taylor), we do not offer any returns on books ordered through them or any other national distributor at this time.
